Pregnancy Weight Gain

Part of a huge misconception is that during a woman's pregnancy she is suppose to gain a ton of weight, look unkempt and feel good about it. Nevertheless, that is simply not true. You can have a healthy pregnancy without all of the excess pregnancy weight gain. In fact, with a proper diet and pregnancy workout, you can deliver a healthy baby and not be left with extra fat to lose later.

Many women are realizing that they can regain their shape quicker and naturally if they keep an eye on it while they are pregnant. Unfortunately, so many women use this time to overeat with the excuse that they are eating for two. This sort of thinking will only make you feel worse once you deliver and find that you gained 40 pounds while pregnant but your bundle of joy only weighed eight pounds. That leaves you with several extra pounds of pregnancy weight gain to keep for yourself. In addition, excessive weight gain can cause unneeded pressure on your body that can cause you to have problems during and after your pregnancy.

How Much Weight Should I Gain During Pregnancy?

How much weight you should gain during pregnancy is based on your pre-pregnancy weight. Your doctor can give you an accurate pound for pound but in general, if underweight you could stand up to 40 pounds and overweight only up to 25 pounds. Most experts say that you only need to bump up your calorie intake by 100 to 300 more than you would normally eat.

During your pregnancy, it is never advised that you try to diet. Dieting is not healthy for you or your baby. What is recommended is that you eat healthier while pregnant to avoid excessive pregnancy weight gain. It is much healthier to keep the excess weight at bay, than it is to diet and try to lose weight.

Eat lots of fruit and vegetables during your pregnancy. These goodies are like eating without the extra calories. Think lean with it comes to meat. Lean cuts of turkey and chicken is best. But if your budget doesn't permit that, you can remove the skin to create a lower fat alternative. Eating whole grains is a much better choice than eating simple carbohydrates, such as, white rice and sugar, and pasta. Instead, substitute white with brown as an easy way to remember what is good for you.

Looking Sexy While Pregnant

Yes, it is possible to look and feel sexy and still be pregnant. Don't settle for that old way of thinking that now that you are pregnant you have to look frumpy and wear oversize clothes and just let yourself go. Think back to when you have seen a pregnant woman who looks good. She carries herself well and she looks like she is happy being pregnant. You can look and feel the same way during and after your pregnancy. But it starts now. You can take back the control of your body and not give in to the misconception of gaining lots of weight just because you are pregnant.
